In The Institute of Genetics and Cytology, NAS of Belarus, hosted a workshop covering the issues related to genetic resources management

On August 12, 2026, specialists of the National Coordination Centre on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-Sharing held an awareness-raising and practical workshop for the staff of the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany, NAS of Belarus.

The key workshop topic was the practical application of the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Genetic Resources Management” as part of scientific institution activities.

Participants were informed about the procedures for accessing genetic resources, the specifics of their transfer and use, as well as requirements that should be considered when conducting research, in breeding and in the course of international cooperation.

The conclusion of Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge Transfer Agreements was discussed separately. During the workshop, ABS NCC specialists addressed the issues the participants raised and discussed practical situations related to the activities involving genetic resources.

Holding awareness-raising and practical workshops is one of methodological support areas for organizations implementing activities related to the storage, inventorying, transfer, and use of genetic resources, and it promotes a uniform approach to the administration of legislation in this area.
