Genetic resources: putting law into practice

This week, specialists from the National Coordination Centre on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-Sharing (ABS NCC) held two informational and practical seminars.

On August 17, the meeting was held for the specialists from the Belarusian State Livestock Breeding Association “Belplemzhivobedinenie”, and on August 20, for the employees of the Central Botanical Garden, NAS of Belarus.

The participants discussed the practical application of the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Genetic Resources Management”:  How are access, transfer and use of genetic resources regulated?  What documents are required? What is important to consider when collaborating internationally?

Particular attention was drawn to specific situations involving organizations, which allows a better understanding of how to implement new requirements in practice.
