The Scientific & Practical Centre for Agriculture, NAS of Belarus, hosted a workshop on the issues related to genetic resources managment

On September 23, the Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture, NAS of Belarus, hosted an informational and practical workshop covering the issues related to the application of the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Genetic Resources Management.”  The event was held with the involvement of the specialists of the National Coordination Centre on Access to Genetic Resources & Benefit-sharing (ABS NCC) that functions at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology, NAS of Belarus.

During the meeting, the key provisions of the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Genetic Resources Management”, the administrative procedures for accessing genetic resources, as well as specifics of legislative administration in scientific research, breeding and international scientific and technical cooperation, were discussed.

Special consideration was given to practical issues raised by the specialists and the analysis of situations arising from activities involving genetic resources, taking account of the specifics of agricultural organizations’ activities.

The ABS NCC  is ready to hold informational and practical workshops for interested organizations and specialists.
