The objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity are the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources, including by appropriate access to genetic resources and by appropriate transfer of relevant technologies, taking into account all rights over those resources and to technologies, and by appropriate funding.
This report of the Republic of Belarus was prepared in close cooperation and consultation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus by a group of experts from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with extensive experience in preparing national reports in the field of protection and sustainable use of biodiversity. To prepare the Seventh National Report on the Implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity by the Republic of Belarus, departmental materials of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Sustainable Development Goals, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the United Nations Development Programme in Belarus, and other departmental organizations were used.
