Checkpoint for monitoring the utilization of genetic resources of the Republic of Belarus

Kseniya Panteley joined ABS NCC in 2017.

Ms Panteley studied at the Biology Faculty (specialty: biology & ecology) of the Belarusian State University.

2009 -2016

Ms Panteley worked at the Biological Diversity Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dealing with the issues related to the state regulation of hunting and fishing, the sustainable use of biological resources of the animal and plant world, the protection and use of plant and animal world, and maintaining the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus. Ms Panteley has extensive experience in developing and ensuring the adoption of regulatory legal acts on biological diversity conservation, flora and fauna protection and legal norms’ clarification.

Functions in ABS NCC:

Consulting potential providers on access to genetic resources-related issues.

Liaising with the Ministry of Natural Resources on providing access to genetic resources.

Collecting information on the international cooperation of scientific institutions of the Republic of Belarus, involving genetic material transfers and related analysis.

Ensuring liaison with the Global Clearing-House to regulate access to genetic resources.

Providing information to the Clearing-House on the genetic resources’ transfers realized by the Republic of Belarus.

Participating in the database development to monitor the utilization of genetic resources.

Preparing proposals for amendments and additions to normative legal acts on access to genetic resources and related traditional knowledge.

Participating in conferences, workshops and other events to raise awareness of the goals and objectives of the Nagoya Protocol and a procedure for accessing genetic resources of the Republic of Belarus.
